CLEANMAIL PRO eMail Filtering

Users with AmericanGeneralMedia.com email address now have the ability to Whitelist (good email senders) and Blacklist (bad email senders) emails they receive on a per user level. This is most beneficial to users that utilize Microsoft Outlook as their email client but will also benefit users of the web mail system.

To gain access to your account:
   1. go to http://spamfw.cleanmailpro.com:8000/cgi-bin/index.cgi
   2. enter your full email address in the Username: field
   3. click on CREATE PASSWORD

A password will then be emailed to you to login in at the website address. There will also be a website link in the email that will take you directly to the system without having to go to the login screen. Save that email for easier access in the future.

Once logged in you will see 2 tabs. The first tab QUARANTINE INBOX will show a list of quarantined emails that are pending your approval to 1) deliver to your email inbox 2) mark the message as spam. The second tab PREFERENCES has four sub-tabs.

   1.Whitelist/Blacklist tab
      a. The top area will allow you enter an email and click Add to add emails that           you DO want to receive emails from. The bottom area will allow you to enter           and email and click Add to add emails that you DO NOT want to receive emails           from. Do NOT enter domains in this area. If you were to enter a domain such           as AOL.COM you would stop receiving ANY emails from users with @aol.com           in their email address.
   2.Quarantine Settings tab
      a.These settings are already set for you and there is nothing that needs to be           done here.
   3.Spam Settings tab
      a.These settings are already set for you and there is nothing that needs to be           done here.
   4.Password tab
      a.This is where you can change your password to something that you may easily           remember.

FOR OUTLOOK USERS ONLY:

At the login screen you will see a blue link entitled “Get Mail Client Plugins Here”. Click that link and a pop-up window will appear (you may have to turn off your pop-blocker to access it. Click the DOWNLOAD NOW button. Another window will open prompting you to Run, Save or Cancel. Click on the RUN button and follow the steps.

You may have to close and reopen your Microsoft Outlook application. When you do open Outlook you will now see a RED ENVELOPE and a GREEN ENVELOPE. You now get to train the system to YOUR preferences. When you have an email open that is obvious SPAM you simply click the RED ENVELOPE. If it is from a trust source and is NOT SPAM you click the GREEN ENVELOPE.

RED = SPAM

GREEN = NOT SPAM

You must do this on a fairly regularly basis to get the most out of the spam. Spam classification is not effective unless at least 200 messages have been classified for each type (Spam/Not Spam).
